This company left Kinston, North Carolina, for Richmond, Virginia, July 3, 1863, and arrived there July 7, 1863. Left camp near Richmond, Virginia, for Wilmington, North Carolina, July 10, 1863, and arrived there July 13, when they marched seventeen miles to camp. Ordered to Charleston, South Carolina, August 9, 1863 and arrived there August 10, when they marched to James Island. A portion of this company left for Fort Sumter, South Carolina, August 25, 1863, and the remainder was ordered to Morris Island, South Carolina, to relieve the 23rd Regiment, Georgia Infantry; the 20th Regiment, South Carolina Infantry; and the 8th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry. Took position in Battery Wagner, South Carolina, August 31, 1863.

Morris, Christopher C. - Private - Enlisted in Company C of the 28th Georgia Volunteer Infantry on August 1, 1861. Born on April 10, 1847, he was the son of Pvt. Needham William Morris and brother to Pvt. John B. Morris and Pvt. Thomas R. Morris. He was wounded on July 5, 1864 during the Battle of Petersburg, Virginia when a shell fragment hit him in the chest, penetrating his lung. He surrendered with Gen. Joseph E. Johnston's army on April 26, 1865 at Durham's Station, N.C., and was paroled on May 18, 1865 in Augusta, Ga. He died on June 17, 1929 and was buried in the Marvin United Methodist Church Cemetery in Martinez, Georgia.
